To tell the truth, it was the cricket who jumped the highest, but he jumped so high that nobody could see him and the juges ruled that he never left the ground. The frog jumped less than half as high, but he was bigger and at least everybody could see him. The frog, however, had the serious misfortune to land on the king's head and was disqualified at once for disrespect.
The kangaroo jumped hardly any distance at all, but was intelligent enough to land in the arms of the princess, and thus the prize went to the competitor who had the best sense rather than to the highest jumper.
